Introduction Your Final Project is worth 640 points (50 %
of your grade), because it allows you to demonstrate your learning
from almost every other assignment in the course. BEGIN THIS
ASSIGNMENT
DURING THE FIRST OR SECOND WEEK OF CLASS! Since there is quite a
bit of work involved, you should work on it piece by piece, bit by
bit, throughout the entire semester. You should not do any of the
work on this project during the last week of the semester. By
then, everything should have been completed. Use your last week to
gather, zip and upload the project by means of the Coursework
upload function on the web portal. As always, contact me
immediately and personally if you have any questions about
anything in this comprehensive assignment.

- Point value of this segment is 80 points

the web. Go to sites like
www.dell.com, or

www.gateway.com, etc. to find graphics and deals. Call
your newsletter Sweet Deals of the Month and save
your file as <YourLastName>Newsletter.doc
- Point Value of this segment is 110 points.
- Microsoft Excel

BE SURE THAT YOU SAVE IT AS AN EXCEL WORKBOOK, NOT AS
AN EXCEL TEMPLATE.

- Materials will be available on reserve in the library to

- Microsoft Access
- Create an Access database to keep track of your
potential employers, their locations and the various
positions you are considering. Create the following tables
and populate them with at least 10-15 rows of data each. Be
sure to look at the query requirements FIRST! Name your
database <YourLastName>FinalProject.mdb. Follow these
guidelines:
- Create a table of Potential Employers, consisting of at least
10
records (1 record per employer). Include fields for name, address, city, state
(abbreviate), zip, telephone number, contact fields
(first name, last name, email addresses, extensions,
etc.), position codes, location codes, etc.
- Create a Positions table containing at least 15
fields of various positions open in your potential
employers (some employers will offer more than 1
position of interest to you). Be sure to include data
fields for salary, benefits (at least 5), location
fields (locate them in major metro areas of the US,
e.g., New York, Houston, Philadelphia, etc.), etc.
Relate this table to the Potential Employee table by
means of the position code field.
- Create a table of Location Cost of Living.
Relate this table to the positions table by means of
location ID. Find the cost of living statistics in the
library for major metropolitan areas. THIS WILL TAKE
SOME RESEARCH TIME!
- Create a table of Recreational Activities available
throughout the country (theater, symphony, opera,
skiing, hunting, seaside, etc.) and relate this to the
positions table by means of recreational activities ID.
USE COMMON SENSE (e.g., Wichita will not provide seaside
activities, etc.).
- Relate the tables and enforce referential
integrity.
- Create 3 forms of your choice. At least one form should
represent a parent table and one of the child tables (form
and subform).
- Do the following 5 queries involving multiple tables:
- What positions allow you to earn maximum income?
- What positions allow you to earn maximum value in terms
of cost of living?
- What positions allow you to earn maximum value in terms
of cost of living and offer you the benefits you want?
- What positions allow you to earn maximum value in terms
of cost of living, offer you the benefits you want and are
located in metro areas that give you access to the
recreational activities you desire?
- What positions allow you the benefits you desire, give
you access to the recreational activities you desire, but
pay too little money?
- Produce reports for EACH of the above queries. Use
different designs, if possible. Add graphics and special
fonts. More is better.
- Point Value of this segment is 170 points.
- Zip all your files from this module into one Zip
archive named <YourLastName>FinalProject.zip. Upload the Zip file
archive by means of the upload utility on the Coursework
page of the Web Portal. Your Zip archive will contain the
