Setting Up and Submitting the TRACKING.TRK file
  • The CD that comes with your textbook allows you to install a tracking feature that "tracks" or records your progress as you complete your assignments online. Every time you do one of the Quick Checks or take a Section Exam your score is recorded in a file on your computer called tracking.trk. You are required to submit this file each week along with your other homework in your weekly upload to the Digital Dropbox on Blackboard.

  • The CD software allows you to set up your tracking.trk file on a floppy disk A:\ drive or on the C:\ drive of your computer. The following instructions demonstrate the latter alternative. Once your file is created on the C:\ drive of the computer your will use for the online assignments, the software on the CD will recognize it every time to load it in your computer. Simply drag the file at C:\tracking.trk into the folder your will compress for upload to the portal. Follow these directions for setting up your C:\tracking.trk file:

    • Load your CD, but before you open the electronic textbook, Click on the Tools Menu and select Change Tracking Location. This will only have to be done once:

      •
      • Select the C drive, click Save and Exit:

      •
      • Open the electronic textbook. You will be asked the following:

      •
      • Click Yes.

      • A warning will appear:

      •
      • Click OK.

      • The first time you do this, you will be asked to create the tracking.trk file:

      •
      • Click Create. You will then be asked to enter your tracking information; use your last name as your ID:

      •
      • Click OK. Remember that you will only need to do this once. Finally, be sure not to delete this file. It will simply continue to build a complete record of your progress with Quick Checks and Section Exams throughout the semester.
      • Contact Professor Yelovich if you have any problems with this process.
