Taking the Quick Checks and Section Exams
  • The CD that comes with the textbook contains both the entire contents of the printed book as well as a number of quizzes (Quick Checks) and tests (Section Exams). Credit will be given for each Quick Check quiz and Section Exam on which you score 100 %. Since you may take the Quick Checks and Section Exams as often as you wish, you should have no trouble earning the required 100 % for their point value. There are 40 Quick Check quizzes, each worth 3 points; there are 3 Section Exams, each worth either 13 or 14 points. Total number of points possible is 160 points, or 25 % of your grade. No point values will be awarded unless you earn a perfect score on the quiz or exam. Full credit is possible only if the tracking files are uploaded on time. Files submitted within the first week after they are due will receive an automatic 10 % MARKDOWN. Files submitted over one week after they are due will receive NO CREDIT.

  • When you take a Quick Check or a Section Exam the results will be saved in a file on your computer called tracking.trk. Although you may save this file on a floppy disk, or A:\ drive, you should follow the instructions at the following hyperlink for configuring and using the tracking.trk file on your computer's C:\ drive. Each week, you will upload the file to the portal. The file will contain the complete results of all your online Quick Checks and Section Exams up to that point. It is very important that you DO NOT delete this file, since it will contain a record of all your online activity for this course throughout the semester. This is the only way your quiz and exam results can be recorded in the grade book.
